ACID RAIN
ACID RAIN
Home – In present world technology is growing advance and things are inventing day by day. But, the development is leading to the destruction of environment through many ways and one of then is “Acid gain”. Acid rains is formed when oxides of sulphur and oxides of nitrogen reach with the moisture in the atmosphere. Acid rain is damaging the whole ecosystem. But, we are still not thinking about it.
Sources – The boring of coal, petroleum product, industrial waste etc. are the main causes of Acid rain. During boring these thing, they release sulphur di-oxide (SO2) which is acidic in nature. “A/C to EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), 550 premature death occurs each year due to Acid rain”. Emission of formal dehyde (HCHO) and formic acid (HCOOH) responsible for the boring of biomass.
Control measures – Acid rain can be reduce by planting more and more trees. Nidhivan Foundation is coming forward for protecting the environment by planting trees. Trees reduce the oxides of carbon in air can also fix atmospheric nitrogen. By using low sulphur fuel, decreasing emission of NOX from power stations and reducing emission of SO2 from power stations can control acid rain.
Programmes – Government have started many programmes to control acid rain in India and all over the world. Nidhivan Foundation is also running many programmes and campaigns for planting trees. Nidhivan Foundation had planted more than 3 lacs trees in the last year and will plant many more in this year.
Impact – Due to acid rain level of oxygen is decreasing in soil organisms. Due to increase in ammonia rate decomposition is decreasing in soil. It affect the eggs and tadpoles of frog and salamander. It causes diseases like chronic bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema and cancer. Here Nidhivan Foundation is doing a great job by planting trees and awaring the peoples and industrializers the adverse affects of acid rain.
